Other people will know God's love by the way we love people.
story: at islands (where i am a server) i had this particular table, two ladies, that were, lets just say....DIFFICULT. besides using the language, "hey, grab me a refill" or calling out my name from across the room, or complaining about the fries because "they have too much salt", or that when i turned around the corner they were holding up their glass and shaking it because they wanted another refill, and then left me $1.15 on a $33 bill. get the idea that they were not the best table yet?
it was really really hard to love these two ladies. i mean, ill admit, i went back to the side station, where all the servers get the drinks and put in all the orders, and i would go back there and talk crap about these ladies and would complain about them.
reading this challenges me. its pretty plain and simple. if you do not love, you do not love God. wow and ouch. i mean how many times do we complain about people? how many people get on our nerves and just piss us off? this verse really challenges us to love EVERYONE.
GOD IS LOVE. he shows us love... no matter what we do, no matter what we say. THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO THAT WILL MAKE GOD LOVE US ANY LESS. this is amazing to me. loving others can be hard. but thinking about how God can look at us, and all we do, and he can still love us like He does, we should be able to love people, no matter who they are because thats the example God has showed us.
