LOVE huh?

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." - 1 John 4:7-8

Other people will know God's love by the way we love people.

story: at islands (where i am a server) i had this particular table, two ladies, that were, lets just say....DIFFICULT. besides using the language, "hey, grab me a refill" or calling out my name from across the room, or complaining about the fries because "they have too much salt", or that when i turned around the corner they were holding up their glass and shaking it because they wanted another refill, and then left me $1.15 on a $33 bill. get the idea that they were not the best table yet?

it was really really hard to love these two ladies. i mean, ill admit, i went back to the side station, where all the servers get the drinks and put in all the orders, and i would go back there and talk crap about these ladies and would complain about them.

reading this challenges me. its pretty plain and simple. if you do not love, you do not love God. wow and ouch. i mean how many times do we complain about people? how many people get on our nerves and just piss us off? this verse really challenges us to love EVERYONE.

GOD IS LOVE. he shows us love... no matter what we do, no matter what we say. THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO THAT WILL MAKE GOD LOVE US ANY LESS. this is amazing to me. loving others can be hard. but thinking about how God can look at us, and all we do, and he can still love us like He does, we should be able to love people, no matter who they are because thats the example God has showed us.

its just been on my mind all day. needed to get that out. thanks for letting me.

Knocking

"20 Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with me." -Rev. 3:20

Just really quick because it's late and I am tired. But I read this verse the other day and I have not been able to get it out if my head. I have been thinking about it alot.

I love food. I love God. So sharing a meal with God would be the best thing ever. I would imagine. What I have ask is, how may times do we leave God outside when we are about to do something we know is wrong? We hear His voice, he wants to come in, but because we are doing some particular things we shut Him out.

He is saying "LISTIN! DUDE! You don't get it. You hear me calling, and you let me in. I want to be right there next to you while you struggle to help you beat this. All you need to do is open the door."

That should be reassuring. We need to let Him in, and BOOM, we have the comforter of comforters there right next to us. The King of the universe is there WANTING to be there with us.

You can take a breath now. God is wanting to be there. That is all we need.

thankful for the unthanked

so i was reading through Matthew 6 and i thought this jumped out at me... (click here to read it)

Jesus is telling us that we shouldnt worry about clothes. because our body is more important than clothes. so we should be worried about our body rather than worry about what clothes we "have" to get because its the next big thing. which i understand. i agree.

but he also says dont worry about food or drink. ummm...... hello. i live for food. food is my weakness. but looking at this. Jesus is telling us that we should not worry about if we are going to eat tomorrow. and to be honest, a lot of us in this country do not have to worry about that. Jesus says that the Father knows we need food and drink to survive, and clothes to keep warm and dry, but if we seek His kingdom first, and his righteousness first, then all of those things will be provided for us.

but how many times do we know that we will have food tomorrow, we know we will have something to drink tomorrow, and know that we will have a fresh and clean pair of clothes tomorrow, and not even think or thank God for providing us with it? it is just another brush aside because its so routine for us to eat good food, drink clean water, and wear clean clothes.

i am pretty sure Jesus is talking to the poorer people of that time, and he is telling them that he knows that they might not know where there next meal comes from, or if they will be able to get water, or if they will have clothes tomorrow, but if they seek God first it will be provided.

what does that say about us who dont even acknowledge God for having a fridge full of food or a closet full of clothes? it seems sort of backwards.

i am guilty of this.

i guess the challenge would be, thank God for the little things, for the everyday miracles that he does that we seem to overlook. its God, nothing He does should ever be overlooked because He does everything out of the fullness of His love for us. because if He wanted to, he can take it all away in a second. we need to be thankful for the things that go thanked.
